PPT Pictorial

Here we broaden our horizons a bit to offer content not directly related to our aims and activies but still deplicting the magic of cinema.

The Final Reel, an interview with PPT member Mike Taylor, had its premiere on Talking Pictures TV on 27 March 2026

Rewind specials

The long wait is over!

After many months another Rewind special has been added. This edition is from Membership Secretary Bob Mandry and features his collection of cinema badges of which he has over 500. It is not just pages of images; the collection is shown as a number of sections each explaining the origin and purpose of the badges.

70mm print at Barnsley Parkway

PPT member Rob Younger runs the Parkway cinema in Barnsley. It is a twin cinema that retains the facility of running film as well as digital. Here we see a 70mm copy of Tenet running in the projection room.

Radio Leeds visits the PPT at Halifax

BBC Radio Leeds visited the PPT at Halifax and spoke with Dion Hanson who has added the video images to the radio audio recording. We are grateful for the coverage given by BBC Radio Leeds.

Early telephotography

Édouard Belin (5 March 1876 – 4 March 1963) was a French photographer and inventor. In 1907 Belin invented a phototelegraphic apparatus called the Bélinographe (télestéréographe)—a system for receiving photographs over telephone wires via telegraphic networks. Belin's invention had been used for journalistic photos since 1914, and the process was improved by 1921 to enable transmission of images by radio waves.

This video was derived from a roll of film contained in a can which, together with several others, was passed to the PPT. Having been rolled up for several years the condition of the film made transferring to video a bit of a challenge.
